Its so true about...
safety first.... this is what we are taught from our childhood, but wise as we are,we tend to unlearn the rights and relearn the wrongs in our life. I however am different from the 'wise' lot cause I have realised this mistake of gradual unlearning and so I am all geared up for that relearning of the quintessential mantra - safety first! Like today, I have a severe headache since morning, courtesy the awfully awful 'yesterday' of my life. If only I had thought of a 'safety first ' plan everything would have been perfectly fine - no fights , no teasing , no cold wars, no financial crunch... wow... my life would have been perfect. How do I start this small tale of mine without sounding too much of a drama queen, which ofcourse I am not, though I did adore the Tanaaz - KRK ( is he even a star?) drama in Big Boss and the way she said ... disappear.. did no one notice how her nose and ears pointed outwards when she was angry and how swiftly she cut the air with her hands while making gestures? hmm.. so where was I, ya, it was a usual office day and all was going pretty much the way it goes everyday ( you know how offices can get , monotonous!) until;when i was just waiting for the clock to strike 5:29 and i leave for home, i got the unfortunate call from my dad that he would not be able to pick me from office. My luxurious car ride ... the best feeling of my life when I unwind myself after a hectic office day, is gone. If only I had called my dad earlier he would have informed me about his plan earlier ( or atleast I would have got a hint!) I would have made up my mind for this cruel day- end and maybe got a lift from my colleague who lives near my place, but alas! he had already left.
It all happens when you actually need it - I needed this 'pick up service' to go home quickly as I had starved myself throughout the day, thanks to my friend who introduced me to this concept of 'giving stress to your body' once a week 'its all scientific' and all that blah blah hogo pogo. The only thing that I had in mind by that time was food. With a starved body, parched lips and useless luggage ( office stuff which i always carry thinking that someday those papers maybe useful but most of the times I tend to carry them to and fro from office to home ) I forced myself out of the office. I had called all those I could think of at this hour of need but in vain. My only hope now were the autorickshaws - the easiest mode of transportation unless you have your personal chopper to pick you up from wherever you are( its a joke, people tend to take my jokes seriously). Now, you see, these autowalas are masters of their own ships, they ll go wherever they wish, they ll spit venom all day long and they specialise in adding that extra something to Delhi's already worse traffic - worsening it by their illiterate moves on the road- in short , no concept of 'safety first'. Despite this fact they are still one of the highest paid people on the road and during festivals there is no stopping them. They can scandalise you with their fares, they can say 'no' straight to your sorry face when you really needed a yes. Well yesterday was one of those days , with diwali round the corner, Delhi would reach to its ugliest on the roads. huh..Someday of celebrating the victory of good over evil! No autowala was ready to go where I put up. I was too irritated and hungry to stand and wait longer for a miracle to happen and so i decided to make an intelligent move - split and go. I hired an auto for a nearby destination and decided i ll be hiring another from their to the next destination and so by itsy bitsies i ll finally reach home. Was that an intelligent move ?? I doubt it today !
